The Hobgoblin Mother

Exposed briefly to a life of royalty, Philge had her minions craft a unique drink for her coronation. The resulting drink was partly responsible for the founding of the fuckgoblin industry. Drink them carefully is what I'm trying to say.

In a mixing glass with ice, stir:

  • 15ml (1/2 oz) lime juice
  • 15ml (1/2 oz) Midori
  • 15ml (1/2 oz) Licor 43
  • 15ml (1/2 oz) Blue Gin (or regular gin, but blue gin is really nice)
  • 10ml (1/3 oz) Absinthe

Strain into a chilled Nick & Nora glass and top with sparkling mineral water.

Garnish with dry, salty rat jerky (or beef jerky if you can't find rat).

Enjoy, but... very carefully.

Tasting Notes

This is quite a sweet and easy little drinker, and I imagine Philge was quite taken with its dainty yet meaty presentation.

The nose is heavy on melon and vanilla, with a brief sharp citrus and anise hit followed by a luxurious and lingering fruity finish. If you're not a meat eater you can omit the rat, but do replace it with salty protein (maybe beer nuts?) both for thematic reasons and to balance the powerful hen's night style joie de vivre that lies in wait for the reckless or unwary.
